Hello! My name’s Coco and I’m currently studying BTEC business at the college.

In February 2018 I will be going on a volunteer placement in a rural community in Nicaragua where I will be helping with water, sanitation and hygiene. I will be teaching people how to wash their hands, something that seems so basic to us in our lives, but that makes a huge difference to the livelihood of someone in a rural community. I will also be teaching the community how to build basic toilets and tippy taps, setting them up with the knowledge they need to continue improving their quality of life.

I am fundraising for the sustainable development charity I am volunteering with, Raleigh International, who help people in developing countries all over the world to improve their quality of life through facilitating them with knowledge on how to set up their own businesses and how to build water and sanitation systems.

Only 51% of the global rural population has access to improved sanitation (toilets, taps and showers) and safe drinking water, and this statistic is true of the rural communities in Nicaragua where I will be working. It’s up to charities like Raleigh International and highly developed countries like the UK to aid in the improvement of this statistic and give everyone in the world the right to clean drinking water and basic sanitation.

This is why I need your help to raise funds. These donations allow Raleigh International to continue their work all over the world and I want to make sure you’re aware that there is something you can do to help improve the lives of people around the world who are living without their basic human needs being met.

Here’s my just giving link as it has some information about what I’ll be doing and what the charity do https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/coco-deutsch

Thank you.
